The wonders of social media. I was on Michael Symon's facebook page and asked him what are his favorite knives. This was his response.

I don't know what kimichi is but maybe he just spelled it wrong.

No surprise on the Nenox... probably S1... wonder about what handle he has? :)

Misterious Kimichi... I don't know that brand either... I agree it might be a misprint..

Could it be Kikuichi?

Does he have a Calphalon deal or something?

He has a deal with their unison line of pans. They probably sent him a whole bunch of stuff and I doubt he ever cooks at home. What's interesting is on his show, he uses french copper pans, so it must not be a exclusive deal.

I could definitely see with the Kikuichi cursive script, someone messing up the name. And their knives don't have English on it and I doubt he is one to keep boxes. I bet it is Kikuichi.

You know I was thinking that this would be a interesting side project: write celebrity chefs and ask what they use. Some of the big ones would probably not respond or give an 'acceptable' answer based upon sponsors, but it would be interesting to know what some high profile chefs use. Not that it matters greatly, but I would be interested. Richard Blais, the Voltagio brothers, David Chang, Grant Achatz, etc.

So I thought I would test it out and Richard Blais wrote back really fast. Here was his reply.

"Inox and Misono mostly, I love Korin in NYC."

Good point. And I will also ask which brand of rotary evaporator they use.

Alton Brown frequents Carter's table at Blade regularly and he used to use a Carter nakiri on his show before his endorsement deal with Shun.

Just goes to show how little I know about that topic!! :P

It was until I googled La Senza knives and got no clear response that it dawned on me!

I was actually going to answer?? What knife brand is that? I've never heard of it!!
